AIRC and the Baroni Center for Government Contracting at George Mason University are co-hosting a webinar series titled “Unlocking the PPBE Commission’s Final Report — What Can DoD Do Now?” The goal is to examine steps to take now in the PPBE process—from strategy and planning to execution.

November 21: Modernizing PPBE Business Systems and Data Analytics

Five panelists discussed immediate steps to implement the commission’s recommendations with regard to “Modernizing PPBE Business Systems and Data Analytics.” Topics included: create a common analytics platform; strengthen governance for DoD business systems; accelerate progress toward auditable financial statements; continue rationalization of the OSD resourcing systems; and modernize the tracking of congressionally directed actions.

July 18: Improve the Alignments of Budgets to Strategy

This session focuses on five PPBE Commission final report recommendations: replace the PPBE process with a new defense resourcing system; strengthen the defense resourcing guidance; establish continuous planning and analysis; transform the budget structure; consolidate RDT&E budget activities.

August 1: Foster Innovation and Adaptability

Learn more about four recommendations in the second grouping of PPBE Commission final report recommendations that the DoD can implement now without any changes to statute (see pages 67-94).

August 15: Strengthen Relationships Between DoD and Congress

What actions can be taken to improve information sharing between DoD and the Congress? How can DoD and Congress work together to track and respond to changing program and budgetary needs?
