Gamified Learning Can Be Effective

Lieutenant Colonel Daniel J. Finkenstadt, U.S. Air Force, and Dr. Erik Helzer, Naval Postgraduate School, wrote about AIRC research that studies video games to teach acquisition concepts to defense professionals. With elements such as fantasy or simulated environments, competition, points, leaderboards, and badges, “gamified methods enhance learning through increased motivation and engagement, which can result in deeper processing and better retention than conventional modalities.”
